Types of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgeries in India have been controversial. I am pretty much neutral to it and don’t care if someone has medically enhanced their features. After all, it’s their face, their money! A few days ago, plastic surgeries piqued my interest & I thought of doing a post about the most popular types of plastic surgeries.
Botox (one of the three Botulinum Toxin type A) is used to prevent development of wrinkles by paralyzing facial muscles. The results of the treatment are not permanent. They may last anywhere from three to eight months. By injecting the toxin directly into a certain muscle or muscle group, the risk of it spreading to other areas of the body is greatly diminished. While the immediate results of Botox look pretty, there are some serious side effects too. Trouble in breathing, loss of bladder control, severe skin rash or itching, muscle weakness, headache, dry eyes are some of the major side effects. So if you are thinking of Botox, do consider the side effects & talk to your dermatologist before getting the injection!
Inject-able wrinkle fillers can be an alternative to Botox. Its results last anywhere between 4 months to a year. Inject-able wrinkle fillers, unlike Botox injections that relax the muscle under a wrinkle, fill the line or crease with one of several different substances. As a result, the line or crease seems to have nearly disappeared. Wrinkle fillers give plumping effect and volumize cheeks, lips, etc. Using fillers are easier and faster alternative to Botox. However, using fillers have side effects too. For example, tiny bumps under the skin, skin discoloration etc. which can be temporary and permanent as well. So it is always advised to get the treatment done with a certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
Liposuction is a procedure of removing fat from suction, in a non-surgical way. During liposuction, small, thin, blunt-tipped tubes (cannula) are inserted through tiny cuts in the skin. Fat is suctioned out through these tubes as the doctor moves the tubes around under the skin to target specific fat deposits. It is rather a common and easy process and may not need overnight hospital stay. It should be noted that body weight doesn’t reduce after Liposuction. The procedure is performed just to reshape the area. It is one of the safest options available today and the side effects include minor bruising, temporary swelling or minor scarring.
4. Face Lifts
Face Lift (medically known as Rhytidectomy) is the procedure of literally lifting the facial skin, tightening the skin tissues underneath and re-positioning the skin to create a smooth surface. The doctor creates an incision near the temples and circles around the face. Some fat and skin may be removed for desired results depending on the case. The results of face lift is very drastic as it can take years off the face. The side effect includes bleeding under the skin, infection, hair loss, scarring, etc. But a procedure done at a well-equipped facility by an experienced surgeon can greatly reduce them.
So have you ever thought of going under the knife?
